How to Choose Light Fixtures for Your Home

I decided to make a blog post to take a deeper dive into some of the fixtures I’ve selected in our home.

There is no doubt that lighting can set the mood of a room, from both the light it gives off and also from the design elements of the fixture itself. Lighting absolutely decorates a room in my opinion and someone once told me that light fixtures are like “architectural jewelry”.

BLING BLING!!! LOL but of course you have to scale and balance the bling.

Now let’s take a tour of my light fixtures shall we?

Foyer Chandelier

Allen and I fell in love with this chandelier so much that we purchased it TWICE, that’s right, when we moved into our current home we purchased it again. It’s a beauty and it’s definitely a showstopper. Side note: the electrician was not a happy camper as he had to install all 176 crystals onto the fixture before installation. But it’s beautiful!

Guest Bedroom Chandelier

This room isn’t actually zoned as a bedroom but more so a bonus room because there’s technically not a closet in the room (although that is a project coming soon as well, lol). But our overnight guests are rather comfortable in this space and how could they not be with this gorgeous chandelier! Prior to this, the room had the standard flush mount fixture and boy what a difference this lighting alone makes.

Great Room Ceiling Fan

We kept it both contemporary and modest with this Great Room ceiling fan, adding a sprinkle of glam. The lighting is great and is a good complement to the recess lighting surrounding it.

Nook Chandelier

This is another light fixture that we liked a lot and purchased twice. Because this space is smaller and the table we have underneath the fixture is round, we wanted to keep the shapes aligned. I’m not saying I’m not a fan of mixing shapes and patterns but when it makes sense to do so. Had this space been a little bigger, I would be okay to put a rectangular shape table underneath this round chandelier. I said it once and I’ll say it again, scale and balance is the key!

Kitchen Pendant Lights

These pendant lights just fit the character and personality of the home; a contemporary light fixture that just works so well in this space. And they are also reasonably priced.

Dining Room Chandelier

So by now you know that we are loyal to our light fixtures because yes, you guessed it, this is also another light fixture that we’ve purchased twice, ha! Isn’t it lovely though? Such a statement piece in our dining room. We love crystal prisms and we have them in a number of fixtures in our home. It’s just the right amount of glam and bling without being overwhelming, making it an elegant and opulent chandelier.

Owner’s Suite Chandelier

Originally, we had a ceiling fan light fixture in the room, but I’ll sacrifice the breeze for this beauty. This chandelier just lights up our room to the tenth degree!

Wardrobe Room Chandelier

Three words – Timeless. Elegance. Glam, in that order. Whenever I have a moment to spend in my wardrobe room, it’s so therapeutic for me to sit on my bench, with a smooth glass of red wine (Pinot Noir) and admire this beautiful chandelier. The sparkling shade is made of glass crystal prisms and faceted rectangular accents, which throws the light around the room. I wish I had more time in this space, it’s so serene!

So that cover’s 75% of the light fixtures in our home. I’ve linked all of the fixtures in this post, so happy shopping if you choose!
